    Emergency: Rambo

RamboIt’s a shame we seem to spend more time reporting missing cats than reviewing them these days. That’s not a lack of cats, it’s laziness.

Anyway this time Rambo has gone missing. He’s about 8 years old and has been missing for around 10 days.

He usually lives in Stirchley, very near Bournville station. If you live near there please have a look about and let us know at emergency@meowseley.co.uk.

We haven’t had a lot of luck at finding the missing recently. It’s getting a bit like Argentina round here. Help us reverse the trend.

I’m convinced think this is my old cat Ronan. We lived in Stirchley, next to the station up until 2003/4. We moved down the road to Bournville but Ronan buggered off at the first opportunity. Where did he go? Back to Stirchley where we used to live. I did recapture him a couple of times but he buggered off again – back to Stirchley.

We still see him from time to time, even over our way on the allotments at the back of Beaumont Road. More regularly though we catch a glimpse of him on Victoria rd, or on Regent or Oxford st. If you want to a suggestion of where you might find him then try to wooded area behind Oxford st (here). He used love that patch of ground and I retrieved him from there many times. Failing that head up to Sparry Drive, another patch he liked and another old address of ours that he used to live at.

I haven’t spotted him for a good 6 months or so but it isn’t out of the question that I won’t as I drive or run around the area.

Anyway, am convinced this is Ronan but even if he isn’t I’ll keep an eye out for him.

      Thanks Dave,

We got this cat from Weoley RSPCA in January 2005, and I think he had been there for a few months, so it is certainly possible he is the same cat. We got two cats at the same time: they said they had been found together and had to be rehomed together. He’s wandered a lot ever since we had him, which would make sense if he used to live in the area. I’ve seen a very similar cat on Regent Street from time to time, but more timid in temperament than “Rambo”. Victoria Road I would definitely expect to see him, since I live very near there.

I’ll look in the places you have suggested, it’s worth a go, thank you. I haven’t really got much of a clue where he wanders off to.

I don’t want to diminish the importance of finding Rambo but this one is turning out to be more intriguing than the last one.

Rambo kept disappearing, but he did always come back. In the end, it turned out he was invading a house just round the corner for some reason, going in through the catflap and fighting with the cats that lived there. The people that lived in the house he had adopted got in touch. I kept him in for two weeks, used plenty of feliway spray and his wanderings seem to have come to an end.

Doesn’t it piss you off when you are sitting in a pub telling people about a cracking cat you met that there isn’t an objective standard to gauge how good it is against another cat? People can rate hurricanes but not cats. That’s ridiculous, I see loads more cats than hurricanes. I intend to redress this imbalance by making a universal standard of cats.

Many people ask if this site is restricted to just cats from a particular post code. It isn’t, cats don’t respect post codes, they don’t send letters.
